Mammogram

My mammogram was taken at a specialist breast assessment center - purpose built unit within the hospital grounds. A mammogram is an x-ray of the breast where your breast tissue is squashed flat between two plates and then a 'photo' is taken. My experience of this was quite funny as the equipment must have been designed for the "larger lady" and I found it quite hard to accommodate my small breasts so that they could be squashed to the consistency of tissue paper! I have years of practice now to get used to it as follow-up mammograms are now part of my life.

With reconstruction, I will have to make sure that I go to a centre that has the necessary equipment to do a mammogram with implants. Clearly squashing the implants to 'the consistency of tissue paper' is no longer a viable option!

With my reconstruction I remain confident that someone will want to do this with me.....!!!
